Goals

  • Share any new findings / research
  • Brainstorm tasks for first years
    • Philosophy: Tasks should be self contained. Ideally first years should design parts, mechanisms or manufacturing processes that can stand alone and could be integrated into any solar car. In the event that a first year works on a task with constrains that are specific to MSXII, then those constrains should be explicitly defined and not subject to change.

    • Identify core members who want to be the mentor / contact person for the first years on each project. Create confluence pages to track requirements and progress
  • Share proposed workflow for mech sub-projects on confluence
  • Identify core team tasks for this week

Discussion items

TimeItemWhoNotes
7:10what did we learn
  • Devon read up on suspension geometry (tuning to win)
  • Matt worked with first years
 7:24 assigning leads to projects
  •  see attached document
7:30What are the deliverables
  • chassis needs mounting points from suspension, and other factors like camber, control arm length etc
  • aerobody needs more sketches (no compound curves on solar array parts)
  • chassis looks into welding processes
7:49Workflow on confluence
  • each mechanical system will have a page with children pages for each related desgn component

Action items

  • Everybody make three sketches for aerobody
  • suspension (Control arm length, wheel distance, camber, castor toe, mounting points in 3d)
  • chassis looks at welding process what kind of welder should we get (MIG vs TIG)
  • brakes (do we need 2 calipers for 2 wheels or 1 per wheel)
