MSXII Mechanical Design Standards

Metric

All dimensions in CAD should be in metric. Whenever possible, fasteners and hardware should be spec'd to be metric sizes.

Coordinate System

To coincide with the the default Solidworks coordinate system, the global coordinate system used for MSXII will be as follows:

As you create parts and assemblies in Solidworks, this coordinates system should be maintained. For example, if you are sketching a circle to represent or become a wheel, it should be sketched on the right plane.

The global origin for the car will be centered between the two front wheels on the surface of the road.

Naming Convention

All mechanical files should follow the Midnight Sun mechanical naming convention
