Chassis Detailed Design

This page tracks the design process and decisions of the chassis.

Constraints and Criteria

Constraints (what the chassis must do):

  • Support passengers

  • Structural integrity for various cases

  • Mounting for electronics

  • Mounting for suspension and steering

  • Mounting for the aerobody base
  • Mounting for panel hinges

Criteria:

  • Weight, lighter is better
  • Cost, more affordable is better
  • Specific strength, stronger per unit weight is better
  • Manufacturing feasibility, easier to fabricate and assemble is better
