Background Information
It has been determined that the circuit board mounts will be pretty trivial relative to the battery box mount, As the battery box will contain most of the electricla equipment. As such, it is considerable larger, expect dimensions of about 1.5' by 2.5' by 0.5', however it will still be a rectangular box. During the meeting on October 13th we will meet with the team creating the battery box to determine rough dimensions
Update (Jan 21, 2017): See Battery Box Mount - Design Selection for design selection and analysis
Edit: From 2017-01-14 Battery Box Size determined layout and distribution of battery modules in battery box.
- We will be using 2 boxes, each housing 18 of the 36 modules
- Rough Dimensions: 24" x 18" x 5" (L x W x H)
- Approx weight of 40 kg per box, based on 80 kg estimate for both boxes (Weight Budget)
Goal
Design and create mounting components for the enclosures.
Project Requirements
Rayce Regulations
- No direct regulations are involved with this project
Internal Requirements
These are requirements driven by Midnight Sun.
- Must securely attach to chassis (assume chassis is made up of 1" OD square tubing)
- Must securely prevent electrical enclosures from coming loose, even in the event of a crash.
- Provide vibration dampening for the electrical enclosures.
Enclosures must be removable, cannot permanently attach the enclosure to the car
Soft requirements
These criteria would be nice to have but not critical to the project's success:
- Must be as light as possible
- Must be somewhat simple for ease of manufacturing
Deliverables
- Concept sketches of design (1 per team member) - OCT 13 (If you would like to create a solidworks model of this design by the 13th that would be great but not required)
