Mount Loading Calculations
Front Suspension
Calculated the total front suspension mass to be 14.6 kg using the weight budget estimate values. Multiplied by 5*9.81 to get a total force of 716.13 N, distributed among 16 mounting points, resulting in 44.76 N per mounting point.
Rear Suspension
Calculated the total rear suspension mass to be 15.6 kg using the weight budget estimate values. Using Devon's MATLAB program to determine the different force vectors on the mounts and coilovers we determined:
x | y | z | |
---|---|---|---|
Fmount | 0 | -591.9756 | 321.0563 |
Fcoilover | 0 | 634.2744 | 444.1237 |
Fmount
Assuming all Z forces (front to back in the car) are co-linear with the outside bearing, and assuming the y force causes a downward moment on the inside bearing (Resulting in a reactionary upward moment onto the suspension)
Fcoilover
Forces upward and to the front for y and z.
