Mold and Panelization
To ensure less work and more predictability in molding process and final product, it is recommended to plan ahead and outline the mold in as high detail as possible.
Panelization
- Panelize only that which needs to be removable (hood and array)
- Keep molds accessible (every point on the mold should be easy to reach and allow multiple people to work on)
- Scribe lines to assist in trimming windshields, doors, NACA ducts and wheel wells
- Joggle panels and attachments for clean integration between panels
- Inset for array, wiring channels and body structure
Layup
- Know your materials, resins, cure times and temperatures
- Write up complete proceudre
- Cut all materials and store in organized manner ahead of time (do not mishandle the composite material)
- Do practise layup with cheap fibreglass
Body Structure
- As we used a non-conforming chassis only certain parts of the aerobody are supported.
- Use composite material for extra support
