Fixtures

  • On Cylindrical Faces radial fixtures on the bearing wall (both bearings)

  • Cylindrical faces axial fixture for the screw holes on the bearing housings (both sides)

  • Virtual wall fixture on inside of bearing (both bearings)

  • Virtual wall on bearing adapters (Top and bottom)

Fx & Fy:

  • Fx and Fy are first combined into a single force using trigonometry to determine the magnitude and angle the force acts at, called Fxy

    • Smile Khatri has a good example in their UCA report from the week of may 29th

  • Fxy applied at the inside of the UCA Bearing Adapter part, normal to a plane that is at the angle of the applied force

    • The force is only applied to one half of the cylindrical face

      • this is an older version in the picture but it is the same for every version

Fz:

  • Applied normal to the UCA Bearing Adapter part, on the side in which the direction of the force is acting, in the section that the bearing would be in contact with

Simulation Results

Any section in Red is greater than the Yield Strength (460 MPa)

The part will always be oriented to show the point of max stress

Reccomendations

The part sees the highest stress concentrations at the edges near the bearing adapters and the bearing housing on the back, but never in the larger plate section in the middle. Material can probably be removed there and added near sharper corners to strengthen the part.
