2020-01-18 First Electrical Meeting of the Term

Pre-meeting tasks/goals:

Make sure everyone knows their tasks moving forward.

  • Sienna working with Jenny to bringing up steering boards

  • Josh and Kyle to work on debugging and validating power distribution

    • Problem with rear power distribution power path chip not activating any of the MOSFETs resolved today

  • Chen to support firmware debugging of current sense board (rev 1.1) and getting BMS carrier board from MSXII.

    • BMS carrier from MSXII removed from battery box in MSXII

  • Someone to organize the 'current boards' box with all the actual current boards

  • Someone to match stencils to boards and label them.

  • James and Jessica met about MCI

    • Documentation for changes and validation needs to be done

    • Potentially set up a testing rig with capacitors in place of motor controllers

  • Andrew and Aashmika to discuss changes to solar sense and validation procedures.

    • Resources sent to Andrew about this

  • someone to start planning the electrical mockup. See winter 2020 projects page on confluence.

  • someone to make a wire crimping guide (ideally with pictures).

    • Short crimping tutorial given by Josh

    • Potential plans to run a longer and more in-depth, hands-on workshop for harnessing

  • Frank to figure out connection from the EVSE connector to the charger interface board and Elcon charger.

    • Frank absent at meeting today, needs to be contacted

  • Working sessions still 12pm on Saturdays, team leads meet at 1pm, new recruits are free (and encouraged) to join

Additional things brought up:

  • GPS module and horn should be spec’d → James

  • New recruit Max to work on charger interface with Micah and Frank

  • BMS Carrier via sizes fixed to be sent out Mon 20, Jan 2020

  • Lights board:

    • Brightness between daytime running lights and rear lights/turning signal differing, rear/turn lights too dim ( ? )

    • Need a way to categorize brightness of lights

    • Nita to try and find a way to fix without redesign (redesign if needed, PCB layout shouldn’t change)

  • While boards are shipping, new recruits can learn to harness (will need workshop, Josh might be here to run it the weekend of Feb 1)
