Connector Board Testing Plan

The Connector Board is used to test the connectors we are planning to use. These tests include the physical durability of the connectors, the heat output of the connector during use, and the current limit of the specific connector.

The connectors use include:

  • Dura-clik

    • Single row 2-pin

      • 5600200220

  • Ultra-fit

    • Single row 2-pin

      • 1722871102

    • Dual row 4-pin

      • (Find)

  • Micro-fit

    • Tin plated

      • Single row 2-pin

        • 436500215

      • Dual row 4-pin

        • 430450412

      • Dual row 8-pin

    • Gold plated board lock

      • Single row 2-pin

        • 436500219

      • Dual row 4-pin

        • 430450425

    • Gold plated guide pegs

      • Single row 2-pin

        • 436500216

      • Dual row 4-pin

        • 430450413

    • Barrier term connector

      • (Find)

    • TE power term connector

      • (Find)

Durability Test

  1. Attach all connectors needed for the board

    1. Connectors pads are placed diagonally of each other for grip of connector

  2. (Optional) Attach board onto testing platform with 2.5mm screws

  3. Once all connectors are attached, tug on the connector on all directions

    1. This is so we can test durability of connector pins and casing

    2. Note: Please do not try to rip connector off, test is used to test realistic wear and tear of the connector in the car

Heat Output and Current Limit Test

  • When testing heat output and current limit, make sure of the following:

    • Connectors are attached properly

    • Connectors do not have damage

  1. Plug connectors opposite sides of the board

    1. Traces are connected from opposite sides

    2. Power supply will ground the connector

  2. Measure temperature of the connector

    1. Test is to compare the heat output and temperature limit of the connector

    2. Note: Please make sure not to touch the board when connected to power supply
