Description

Review and Validate the accuracy of simulations

It is not known whether the current simulations that have been run for the Structural FEA have resulted in accurate conclusions. An investigation with current FEA project members and alumni will be conducted to verify this.

Timeframe: Aug. 25 - Sept. 3

Possible Results:

  1. FEA set up was inaccurate and the chassis FEA simulations have been passing. No changes are required.

  2. FEA set up was inaccurate but chassis FEA simulations are still not passing. Move onto Radical Design Solutions.

  3. FEA set up was accurate but chassis FEA simulations are still not passing. There is a large chance that there is no solution to the current design. Move onto Radical Design Solutions.

Radical Design Solutions

These are design changes to the interior of the vehicle (concerning number of passengers, geometry of chassis, etc.) to increase the possibility of designing a solution that will pass regulations.

See Google Doc for solutions being explored.

Option

Feasibility

Thicken all chassis tubes and re-manufacture chassis

NOT POSSIBLE

Logistically impossible due to timeframe and work required to re-build the chassis to be ready for Rolling Chassis integration by November/December 2021

Aerobody

For any bottom panel change considerations, we do not have the capacity to create more molds than currently planned.

Aero-Chassis Integration

There may be changes to how the aerobody is mounted to the chassis.

Interiors

Possible changes to number of seats, space in interior of vehicle.
