Hi,
I’m reaching out on behalf of Midnight Sun, the University of Waterloo’s solar car design team. We are a fully student-run organization who builds and races fully solar powered vehicles with other universities around the world in the American Solar Challenge.
We are interested in procuring light, highly efficient semi-flexible solar panels for our solar car. An image of one of our previous cars is below for reference, with the new one being of similar design.
Competition regulations indicate a maximum array size of 6m2, which we are aiming to generate at least 1500W. High efficiency is most important for us, so we are looking for the most efficient cells and the encapsulation method that leads to best performance. Could you provide specifications for your cells and encapsulated panel performance?
Once we are provided with the size of the cell, we can determine the panel configurations to maximize the roof area utilization. A rough sketch of the car roof is attached. We will likely want at least 2 panel configurations, larger ones to fill the unobstructed section in the rear and smaller panels to place around the canopy and front of the car.
