These are just MSXII notes

  • no firmware at 2019

  • familiar with the MSXII dashboard

  • all communication happening on LTE, all sitting on sidelines reading off of telemetry data

  • SOC strategy should be displayed on the telemetry — follow up 

  • BPS issues (under, over voltage, temp faults)

  • All displayed on graphs, not as many measurements as this dashboard

  • Left with essentials, didn’t have time

  • State of charge, speed, states



  • When car didn’t work, we didn’t know why

  • Very stressful

  • Had to read CAN from the car itself instead of getting measurements over telemetry

  • Exponentially more data we’re trying to push this time

  • Can’t make graphs of all of it as nicely, but just so much more information

  • Just want access to all of this information

  • Need to have constant communication with the car

  • Will know there’s an issue when people are screaming about it in the car

  • Telemetry is one step behind what’s happening in the car

    • More about debugging, than an alert system

  • It’s an alert system when the issue isn’t going to stop the car

  • Avoid asking for stuff about the car over radio

  • You can see the string of the faults that happened, that helps

  • All the data was very cool to have

  • Actionable data is limited

  • You have strategy models seeing all this

  • Graphs, calculations is very important to see systems holistically

  • Not important to act on it, that’s what the strategy models are for

  • Motor velocity dominance — she likes

  • Need data when practicing with the car before the race

  • Characterize the limits of the car

  • Especially crucial before the race, nice to have during the race

  • Likes battery voltage graphs, can compare all lines

  • Data should be constant, why is it jumping around so much 

  • Could be averaged/smoothed out a bit

    • Lots of noise

  • Having the average would be nice, have a clear number

  • would like to see actual value, not just lines

  • weren’t relying on this dashboard, just trying to get the car moving and avoiding faults

  • having a place where information is always accessible

  • no indication of faults that she can see/remember

    • wants alerts badge, something like that

  • organizing it in groups like this would be good

  • highlight a line, see what cell it is 

  • being able to pinpoint the outlier

  • solar 5 data, solar 6 data, there are 11 data points for current, voltage, temperature

    • Outliers

  • Output vs input — need to make sure directionality is clear 

    • ie voltage, current



  • range of the vehicle 

    • strategy calculation

    • state of charge of the battery pack → how much can the car go on that amount of charge
