Michael Shiozaki; MSXII (Riishi)

  • Participated in 3 Races (Veteran)

    • ASC + FSGP

      • ASC= cross country race

      • FSGP= racetrack, qualifier for ASC

      • 3 days of racing

  • Travelled as a convoy (3-4 people) in a car

  • Make sure the car does not have any technical difficulties before the race (cars had issues in 2018+2019)

    • Perform scrutineering tests regularly

  • Electrical members (hardware?) use telemetry dashboard

  • Always monitor battery temperature, motor data (velocity) <have fewer graphs>

    • If the battery overheats it will explode

    • If smoke is seen, you have to turn the car off immediately

      • You would have data available prior to incident, but once car is shut down, it won’t be able to track it

        • Ex. Something like the resistor being on fire won’t end up in the data

      • Post-race analysis was mainly used for data visualization purposes

  • Difference between lead + chase car:

    • Chase car receives data while lead car is in the front

    • Challenges included ensuring that the car was working (Mechanical issues)

  • Telemetry dashboard was first introduced in 2019 and strategy did not exist until 2018

  • Radio was not used during the race, instead used walkie talkie via phones

  • Python is the language that they use most often
