MSXII Interview Guide

*Note: we should have access to the MSXII dash for the interview to help in refreshing their memories and to use as reference

1. IRL experience – talk about what the race was like

• What were you specifically using the dashboard for during the race?

• How were roles delegated in regards to analyzing the data?

  • Was it one person looking at all of the datasets?

• Could you give me an example of a scenario in which you would need to look at the dash?

  • When looking at the dash, what are you typically looking for?

  • e.g. looking at specific trend or data points

  • e.g. constantly scanning through looking for something right/wrong

2. Data prioritization

• Which information did you look at the most often?

• How much data were you usually observing at a time?

  • If so, at what point is too much data overwhelming

• Did you find that the information was easy to follow and that you were able to access information easily?

• Was there any information that you would have liked to have had?

• Was there any information which you recall as being unnecessary?

3. Process involved in performing tasks

• What usually prompted you to look at the dash? When did you look at the dash? Describe those scenarios

• When you couldn’t find a piece of information, how would look for it?

  • Could you walk me through the search process?

• Do you recall a time when you had to search for a new dataset in the dash?

  • Was it difficult to find?

  • Was it difficult to interpret?

4. Problems with MSXII dashboard

• Were there any specific issues that you had while using the dash?

  • Continuous issues or specific instances?

• When you couldn’t find a specific piece of information, where would you usually look?

• If there was one thing you’d want to change about the telemetry dashboard what would that be?

  • What was something that could have made it easier to find information?

  • Are there any features that you think should be included in MSXIV (that were not included in MSXII)?
