ANSYSHow to add point masses

For accurate simulations, points of mass need to be added to the model so that we can achieve accurate results. F=ma, we need to have a realistic m.

To accurately simulate parts the weights of the chassis need to be correct. Adding point masses in Ansys allows the team to have far more confidence in the simulations.
ANSYSCreating impact objects in SpaceclaimWe need to create objects for the car to crash into for simulations. The object descriptions are in the 2020 ASC Regulations Appendix F.
ChassisHow to 3D Sketch in Solidworks3D sketching is not too difficult, however it is difficult to 3D sketch in a clean structured way where changes can be easily made in the future. Explain how to 3D sketch the use of reference geometry (created with center lines).
ChassisImplementing global variables into the chassis modelIf changes are made to the position/shape of one thing (aerobody, seats, suspension, etc), the chassis must change too to adapt to the new shape. By adding global variables to the dimensions of the chassis, changes can be easily made in the future, without the need to manually move stuff around (which can take hours).
ChassisCreating a catamaran with SolidWorks surfacingThe catamaran is made out of composite material, and in order to test the composites in ANSYS we require a shell model of the catamaran.
