Firmware/Battery Meeting Notes

Meeting Notes 08/30/2024

  1. Pack Characterization - SOC Open-state versus charge

    1. GOAL: Program an Eload to discharge module, and if possible the entire-pack to get discharge curves by September 8th - (MAIN PRIORITY)

    2. Check-in with Aryan for updates

    3. Suggestion from Blue Sky Solar Car: make 2S2P module and program an eload to discharge the battery and get the discharge curves

  • Straight forward

  • Data for every-single-cell & entire pack

    • Current sense - pack voltage readings

    • Sum-up AFE readings - programmable multimeter

    • Reading Voltage & Current (5-6 amps - whatever cruise-current draw)

      • laptop inside-car to read amperage

  • Q: Current to discharge at?

    • Fraction of the capacity

    • Standard discharge: 1/2 amp

    • Data-sheet

    • 5-6 amps (worst case 10 amps)

  • Aryan has a Confluence page: “Custom State of Charge”

  • HPPT Battery Testing - 5% + number of hours it will take

  • State of charge curve

    • UBC: 4 amp state of charge curve - open state voltage - predicting it

    • Battery Manufacturers - data that exists?

      • MS16: Capacity + Stability

      • Don’t care about weight for cells - going with characterization

      • Temperature range is smaller than other batteries

  1. Resistance-Testing Plan Resistance-Testing Plan

    1. Go over current confluence doc for trying to figure out how to test for very-low voltage readings

    2. **for future - good to find out heat-dissipated by pack

  2. Vibrational Testing

    1. Vibrations are a way that packs can die - internal components can become damaged

    2. Setting up vibrational testing??

      1. Point of reference for before/after changes are made to module and enclosure angular frequency - amplitude of wave = calculate energy

      2. IMU - measures acceleration in-all axes - making one in-progress by Hardware

      3. Telemetry - collects data - TBD = unknown

      4. Vibration Pads - for modules

  3. Mech/Elec Sync Dates

    1. were these finalized yet? - make/put stuff in the channel

    2. Did we also want to have weekly Firmware/Battery Syncs?

      1. Meetings every 2 weeks for Firmware/Battery Syncs - talk to Jenna about what days would be best to meet-up
