How much potting compound is required?

The potting compound is going to fill in this area, covering the nickel strips and the current collectors to protect the spot welded joints. We will also fill around the back side of the cells to keep them in place better.

Approximating as a rectangle, and ignoring the volume taken up by the nickel and the current collector, we have dimensions of:

110mm x 90mm x 1.5mm = 11.0cm x 9.0cm x 0.15cm = 14.85cm³ = roughly 15mL

There are 2 of these areas on the top and bottom for a total of 4.
So 15mL x 4 = 60mL / module

30 modules x 60mL = 1.8L

This is more than I had expected… seems like we’ll need a larger package, but we’ll start with a small package for testing.
