MSXII Internal Requirements

  • Be able to remove the trunk panel (minimal unscrewing required)

    • Deploys quickly to maximize charging time

  • Packaging (fitting it into the space of the car)

  • Integration with chassis

  • Minimal interference (“zero” panel gap)

  • Allows for various ranges tilt reach ideal angle for charging

  • Panels should not be able to come loose due to vibrations under any circumstances

MSXII Soft Requirements

  • Elegant design (simple, door hinge/piano hinge)

  • Hinge point is at least the edge of the panel

    • Can attach hinge to bridge or chassis

  • Secure

  • Ease of manufacturing

  • Weight

  • Costs (material, method of manufacturing, etc.)

Spring/Fall 2020 Progress

  • 6-bar linkage design sketched and reviewed

  • added chassis bars to chassis CAD for mounting

Winter 2020 Tasks

  • Explore new mounting methods to mount hinge (chassis bars unlikely to be added)

  • Work with electrical to claim a location in trunk space/chassis

  • Determine mechanism for removing trunk panel

  • Finalized CAD for hinge
