Li-polymer Pack
Since I could not find the battery specification from Nomura, I stuck with Honcell’s HCP904250 that I worked on last week.
Specifications of the Cell
| Cell Voltage |
| Cell Capacity |
---|---|---|---|
Cell Voltage (Max) (V) | 4.2 | Min. | 2200 mAh |
Cell Voltage (Nominal) (V) | 3.7 | Typ. | 2200 mAh |
Cell Voltage (Min) (V) | 3.0 | Weight (g/cell) | 48.6 |
Price was not specified in their website. They said we should contact them to know the price.
Pack Arrangement: 11P 36S
I first calculated the number of batteries in series to meet the voltage requirement. Then, I calculated how many batteries can there be in parallel without the weight going over 20 kg.
Total number of cells: 396
Weight: 19.2kg
Battery Pack Voltage
| Voltage (V) |
---|---|
Max. | 151.2 |
Nominal. | 133.2 |
Min. | 108 |
Capacity of the Module
The nominal capacity of the cell is 2200 mAh and there are 11 cells connected in parallel. 2.2 * 11 = 24.2Ah.
Volume of the Module
Volume of an individual cell is approximately 20,800 cubic millimetres. If include the table distance, then each pack will require approximately 22,700 cubic millimetres. Since we have 396 cells within this module, 8.2 cubic decimetres or litres. If including the tab, then 9.0 dm^3 would be needed.
Gravimetric/Volumetric Density
Calculating the power capacity (nominal) of the battery:
V * Ah = (3.7 V * 36) * (2.2 Ah * 11) = 3223 Wh
Gravimetric:
3223 Wh / (48.6 X 10^-3 kg * 396) = 167 Whkg^-1
