Rear Hub FEA Guide: Spindle & Hub
Loading Cases
this goes over how we derive loading cases, and why we need a calculator for the hub
General FEA Process:
Determine loads from 1G brake, 1G accel, 2G bump (determined for you already by me & Ahnaf)
Use nodal matlab calculator to find out reaction forces at key nodes (send @Ahnaf Mamun your design’s specific dimensions and he will calculate the numbers for you)
Using the numbers above, set up and run sims for each loading case, for each part

EXAMPLE CAD:
for reference, you can see how I set up the assembly simulation, splitlines on the hub, dummy rim, etc
the force numbers and angles are made-up, but just show as an example
I only showed how to sim using Method A and a dummy assembly
VIDEO RECORDING: Rear Hub - Hub FEA Guide
(maybe you can’t see everything but you can listen to the audio)
For reference, you can see how we did FEA on the MSXV FSU hub: Wheel Hub FEA Report - 05/29/23
DO NOT FOLLOW THIS THOUGH, because we believe the force application and fixtures are not as accurate as what we present in the slideshow above. This is just for reference
