Board Mount Meeting: July 18, 2023
This meeting focused on brainstorming methods to arrange the BMS boards(BMS Carrier, Current Sense, and 3 AFEs) into the current enclosure design. After some discussion, it was decided to proceed by asking a few questions to get to know what is important to consider for each board and if adding the board mounts would disturb the airflow within the enclosure. We were able to come up with 2 ideas on placement of the boards, though that may change after the hardware mech meeting.
Questions we have regarding the boards going in the enclosure:
What are some factors that we should be taking into consideration? Accessibility? Ventilation? Connections to other components?
What is the functionality of the BMS Carrier, AFE, and Current Sense Boards?
The Current Sense Board seems to come with a mount or some sort of casing?
Questions we have regarding the addition of boards within the current enclosure:
Will the board mounts disturb the airflow within the enclosure?
Nicole happened to hop into the meeting and answered this. She said that since the space for the boards are going to be at the end of the airflow, there shouldn’t be an issue with blocking ventilation.
This led to our second question if placing the boards at the end where the outlet fans are. Will there be a risk of high temperatures where the boards are located?
At the outlet fans, there should only be around 3-4 degrees of temp increase so it should be okay.
Some other considerations:
Limited spacing in the enclosure for all five boards?
