Sponsorship Onboarding Activites

Hey there and welcome to Sponsorship! For the first week, the Supplier Interfacing and Sponsorship leads have put together a couple activities for all new members to complete prior to being assigned project tasks.

But don’t worry - it’s super quick (as you can tell, this page is short )! Here’s an outline of what you need to do to complete the two activities!

Mock Emails (Pick One)

Please choose one email to write, preferably for the tasks you plan to help with (SI versus monetary sponsorships). Refer to COVID-19 Specific Templates to help with writing your email.

Supplier Interfacing

Task
Send an email to kshiozaki@uwmidsun and daphnelai.q@gmail.com, asking if Gears Co. is willing to machine the trailing arm

Things to Consider

It’s your first time contacting them so introduce yourself!
Do they know who we are? Probably not, so introduce the team
What do we need them to do?
Attach the sponsorship package!

Knowledge Check (Include Your Answer in the Bottom of Your Email)

You were asked a technical question from the supplier. You don’t know the answer. How do you handle it?

Sponsorship

Task
Send an email to kshiozaki@uwmidsun, asking if Gears Co. is willing to provide a monetary sponsorship.

Things to Consider

Do they know who we are? Probably not, so introduce the team
Who are you?
Do they provide sponsorships for student teams?
What do we need the sponsorship for?
Attach the sponsorship package!

Knowledge Check (Include Your Answer in the Bottom of Your Email)

You were asked a question that you don’t know the answer to. How do you go about this? (what will you do next?)

Phone Call Workshop

We’ll be tackling this in the Sponsorship onboarding on September 19th @ 2:20 PM or so! We’ll do it as a group and pick out a couple of people to simulate first-point-of-contact sponsorship calls.
