Sorting chemical cabinet

labelled pre much everything in the bottom cabinet

  • styropoxy is questionable and there is so much of it. we don’t use it either

  • pretty much everything else is bad

  • epoxy has a long shelf life, so unless its been stored incorrectly, it should be fine

Mold release is officially expired, but worked for bulkheads, although will test on wheel covers

Organize sandpaper bin

Sand side panel(s)

Check wheel cover

Organized sandpaper

Sanded almost all of one side panel

Wheel Cover not checked

Sanded side panel and applied spray paint on overly sanded parts

Don’t leave sanded molds in the paint room overnight, will mess with the finish quality

Different spray paints dry at different times.

@Michael Hanley

Vacuum pump usage

@Michael Hanley

Check for VR3 Package

It was there

2021-03/28

@Michael Hanley

Cut nomex

Didn’t go cause skool is hard

Checked the Nomex in the bay and the only one that is big enough for the panel was the one used in the bottom panel layup but it is damaged/indented in some areas, will look into ulterior ways to avoid bad Nome (i.e. two separate Nomex pieces layup for layup)

2021-03-29

@Leif Blake (Deactivated)

Machining of custom wrench (hopefully finish)

Didn’t quite finish, messed up a bit but it’s salvageable

@Maciek Pajak (Deactivated)

Sand wheel cover

Sand side panel

Sanded wheel cover (sort of)

Sanded Side Panel up to 800 grit

Wheel cover had a massive flaw that we had to rip out of the mold to fix, used epoxy and letting it dry to continue tomorrow

2021-03-30

@Renzo Villanoy

Cut all MDF

Brought in MDF but didn’t cut

Need training for band saw

Considering waiting for the 5 MDF sheets cause less cutting and gluing.

@Leif Blake (Deactivated)

Finish custom wrench

Machine new dowels for hub nut tool

Give rack extension welding jig drawing to co-ops

Ended up not getting much done, machine shop was quite busy and I didn’t get in until later than I wanted. Made some progress, but nothing wrapped up

@Nikita Srivastava @Maciek Pajak (Deactivated)

Sand side Panel

Bondo wheel cover

Sand wheel cover

Sanded side panel down with 120 grit, will continue

Bondo’d wheel cover

Didn’t get to sanding wheel cover

2021-03-31

@Leif Blake (Deactivated)

Same goals as yesterday

Finished custom wrench

Didn’t need to make new dowels to fit in the hub nut tool. Brian hacked it by essentially crushing the top and bottom of the holes in the tool with a ball-peen hammer. This pushed more material inside, allowing a tight fit around the dowels. Then used locktight to glue them in.

Handed off updated rack-ext welding jig drawing to coops

@Maciek Pajak (Deactivated) @Nikita Srivastava @Min Qian Lu (Deactivated)

Same goals as yesterday

Learn to use spray gun

Finished sanding side panel mold with 120 grit sandpaper, will continue with higher grits

Finished bondoing the wheel cover and did some light sanding

Brian taught us how to use a spray gun for priming
