MSXIV Board Layout
For all the boards in MSXIV, we need to figure out where they will be going in the car. This page will outline the required electrical enclosures.
Boards in Each Enclosure
Battery Box
BMS Carrier
BMS Current Sense
3x BMS AFEs
Relay Sense Board
Rear Electrical Enclosure
HV and LV
HV Side
DC-DC
Motor Controller Interface/Precharge
(Motor Fuses)
(Motor Contactor)
LV Side
Rear Power Selection
Rear Power Distribution
Charger Interface
This interfaces with isolated components of the HV equipment. Would be good to design this board to feature more robust isolation.
Front Electrical Enclosure
This enclosure will be located roughly in front of the infotainment display. Interiors will figure out a plan for accessibility, and are thinking about a few options - move the display out of the way, move the electrical enclosure to a ‘glove box’ type of opening, etc.
Center Console
Front Power Distribution
DC-DC Converter for Monitor Power
Driver Controls
This is not strictly 1 enclosure, it is multiple boards in the same general area of the car. All boards will be mounted in their own locations with to start, a 3D printed removable isolation shields around them. If tie permits, panel mount MX150L connectors will be used on the outside of their enclosures and will use robust, water resistant enclosures.
Steering Interface
This board is mounted on the steering wheel with the connections going through the clockspring
Steering Stalk Connector
This is just an adapter to a microfit connector for the clockspring
Will be mounted on the steering stalk
Pedal
Mounted near the rotation point for the acceleration pedal and the brake pedal
Pi Zero and Driver Display
Mounted in a ‘front dash’ area, need to discuss with interiors on exact placement, but will likely be mounted directly with the display. A single output from the power distribution should power both this board and the Driver Display.
Solar Enclosure
2x Solar Sense
11x MPPTs
Motor Controllers
Motor Controller, heat sink and fan
Connectors mounted towards the bottom of the car
Heat sinks should be mounted for natural convection optimization (fins in vertical direction)
NOTES
Rear Electrical Enclosure and Battery Box will share a common wall
Battery Airflow path will go through the power distribution box then through the firewall, then through tubes out to the rear of the car.
