Spring 2017 Schedule

Participants: Titus Chow, Calder Kitagawa, Karl Ding, Kevin Chen (Unlicensed), Taiping Li

Overall Goal: The vehicle electrical system should be done by January 2018 so that we can test and improve on the entire system prior to it being installed into the car

Projects

Array (Calder Kitagawa, Jessica Lin, Minghao Ji)

  • Determine what we want to do and possibly put down a deposit before the end of the term

Battery (Adam Marchand, Titus Chow)

  • We expect our cells to arrive by the end of June, so parts for prototyping should be done by then
    • Current deadline of June 24th to have all the copper sheets cut and dimpled, as well as all hardware sourced

BMS (Kevin Chen (Unlicensed), Karl Ding)

  • Hardware
    • AFE board should be done by June 9th for fabrication
    • Carrier board should be done end of June
  • Software
    • Basic functions should be implemented to protect the test modules by the end of June/early July

Power Distribution (Taiping Li, Calder Kitagawa)

  • Hardware
    • The board should be done by June 9th for fabrication
  • Software
    • Software should be done by the end of June

Driver Controls (Fidel Musa (Deactivated), Norman Chong (Unlicensed))

  • Hardware
    • All schematics should be done by end of June (button board + carrier board)
    • Carrier board PCB should be done by end of June
  • Software
    • Demo in June
    • Code should be complete by end of June/early July (by boards come in)

SWD Adapter (Norman Chong (Unlicensed))

  • Done by June 9th for fabrication

DCDC (TBD)

  • Done by end of Fall 2017

Aux BMS (Timea Ratiu (Unlicensed))

  • Block diagram should be done by the end of June
  • PCB done by end of term

Motor Interface Board (Fidel Musa (Deactivated))

  • Hardware
    • Looking into using STM32F0 as co-processor on carrier board
    • Board done by end of year
    • Prototype with two controller boards
  • Software
    • Proof of concept by end of term

Lights (TBD)

  • Hardware 
    • Lights should be chosen for the lights by end of June
  • Software 
    • Software should be done by the end of the term

Telemetry (Calder Kitagawa, Karl Ding)

  • Hardware
    • Eval boards will be used till we have resources on the hardware team
  • Software
    • January 2018

Solar Interface (Titus Chow) 

  • Hardware
    • Probably using I2C slave boards


Orders

Elecrow

  • Board order on June 9th for AFE, Power Distribution, SWD Adapter, Controller Board rev4
  • Board order July 7 for BMS carrier, Driver Controls (carrier board only, no button board) 

Digi-key

  • One order on May 29
  • One order once Elecrow ships the boards out

Mouser

  • Dura-clik crimp tool, crimps, ISL retainers, receptacles etc

Follow-up  

Array

  • Slightly behind schedule, but we should still have our preliminary layout done by the end of August

Battery

  • Behind schedule, cells have arrived, but we still need parts from mechanical to prototype

BMS

  • Hardware
    • Rev 1 is working, but we need to re-spin for some minor changes
  • Software
    • ADC driver is mostly done, the actual application code is fairly straight forward other than SOC, and it can be done next term

Power Distribution 

  • Hardware
    • Rev 1 was mostly functional, Rev 2 has been ordered and planned to be populated by the end of Aug
  • Software
    • Software should also be mostly done by the end of August

Driver Controls

  • Hardware
    • Rev 1 of Driver Controls Carrier and Peripheral were sent out, and should be tested by the end of the term
  • Software
    • Good progress has been made. Some changes have to be done, but should be good for testing. 

SWD Adapter

  • Hardware is finished and fully functional

DCDC (TBD)

  • Still scheduled to be done by Fall 2017

Aux BMS

  • Behind schedule, but should be done by end of Fall 2017

Motor Interface Board

  • Hardware
    • Hardware should be complete by the end of the term
  • Software
    • TBD, but it should be done by Nov 2017

Lights

  • Hardware
    • Lights have been mostly chosen, should be done by end of Fall 2017
  • Software
    • Done by end of next term

Telemetry

    • Eval boards for now

    • Jan 2018 is still a good deadline

Solar Interface

    • We need 2 solar masters, and each will control maybe 2 relays
