What is SI?

We are the team that helps outsource any materials, machining, finishing, etc. that can not be done at the University of Waterloo. We work along with the Business teams and Mechanical teams (i.e. Dynamics, Structures, and Interiors) to expand our network of companies willing to do in-kind sponsorships with us in trade for marketing.

Types of Sponsorships

There are mainly two forms of support Midnight Sun searches for when outreaching other companies.

In-kind

Targeted by Supplier Interfacing, this type of sponsorship asks for services in return for an advertisement associated with the UW Midnight Sun Solar Car team.

Some services include:

Machining (e.g. CNC milling)
Supplying materials (e.g. 4130 steel)
Finishing (e.g. anodizing)

Monetary

Targeted by Sponsorship, this type of sponsorship asks for donations, grants, and monetary leads. In return, for an advertisement associated with the UW Midnight Sun Solar Car team.

Supplier Interfacing aims for in-kind sponsorships only. The Sponsorship team aims for monetary.

Supplier Interfacing Request Form Form Responses	NEW! If you’re hoping to get something done by SI, please fill out the form with the most amount of detail possible.	We will take each request and let you know when we have someone working on it.
Supplier Interfacing Tracker	Assist SI members of companies we’ve previously contacted and companies we are working with currently. Also, helps let leads/other members understand the current status of the contact.	This is probably where you’ll update the most. This sheet includes sections for Dynamics, Structures, and Interiors.
Trello Board	NEW-ISH! Used for meetings and tracking tasks.	So, kinda like SI’s to do list.
Dynamics Master BOM	Dynamics part tracker which includes SI sections.	For F2020, almost all parts for the Master BOM have been taken care of by core members.
Structures Task List	Structures part tracker which does not include SI sections.
Drawings & CAD file	Holds almost all files needed if requested by sponsors.
Supplier Interfacing 101 Slides	Used for F2020 on-boarding.	This is a good reference for new members.
Email Templates	Simple templates to help members start off their emailing journey.	You do not have to follow these word by word. Always add some pazazz to your emails.
Sponsorship Materials	This document provides the Sponsorship Package.	Always make sure to send a package to every contact.
