Structure:

This page is to stockpile all relevant simulation data on the chassis to maintain a record of what alterations have been made to the chassis, and what effect it had on the stresses.

Each entry in the table should contain:

  • The chassis version number
  • Recent corrections to the chassis/simulation, and the person responsible for the change 
  • An image of the isometric perspective of the chassis with the max stress concentration, and other critical stresses probed (front, rear, side and top collisions)
  • Any other relevant comments

Simulations:

  • All simulations to be done with 4130 Steel (Yield strength is approximately 460 MPa) 
  • Mesh type: Tetrahedron
  • Load: 30 000N in respective direction 
  • Support type: Fixed

Max stress is in one corner (top collision), not symmetrical to other side. Suggests that this is an issue with the modeling of tubes rather than structure.

Tried inserting fillet at front joint but results were worse (i.e. max with fillet ~ 132 MPa). Thus, tried same tests without fillets and achieved lower stress results than in V13.
