Following the mech meeting on 2016-09-18, we have decided on several key key feature that the design of MSXII's aerobody will adhere to: 

  1. MSXII will be a 2 door / 2 seat sport coupé.
  2. The driver/passenger position will be mid vehicle or forward of the vehicle midline. 
  3. The battery will be in the rear of the vehicle (close to the motors) and should be easy to remove. 
  4. The aerobody should be designed to be made up of multiple panels. 

All further sketches / design proposals should adhere to these constraints.

Focus: Have less curves, so that it's easier to manufacture and less strain when putting solar arrays

also, air vents on front and back for air circulation maybe

  • Removed "pinch in" at the centre of the car in the original design to increase crush zone.
  • Some curves along the side of the car to increase aesthetic appeal but still relatively flat - fibreglass mould will be easy to make
  • Solar array mounts on surface with no compound curves

We have reached a consensus as to the overall form/shape of MSXII. The following drawing and model shows the form that has been decided on.

Note: The drawing is an orthographic projection which makes the front of the car look rather distorted (for example the windshield looks bigger than it will look like in real life). Below is an illustration of a room shown in an orthographic view on the left and a perspective view on the right. Of course the perspective view is more realistic but the orthographic view's dimensions are to scale. This explains the distortion in the above drawing of MSXII.
