Breakout-based Boards: MS 12
Current State
Only the driver display and telemetry (UART slave) was a breakout board during ASC 2018. During FSGP 2019, no breakout boards were used in the car.
Goals
- Track small boards that will use the breakout as a base
Background and strategic fit
We have a number of boards that don't fit in well with our current power strategy. This includes the horn and strobe. Instead of combining multiple power rails on our boards, we plan on using the controller breakout to handle these very special cases. These should be extremely simple boards, requiring only a FET and connector for output. Using the breakout as a base instead of building custom boards reduces labor. We might want to augment the breakout to support this use case.
Follow-up: We may not be using these. In an effort to reduce system complexity, we are looking into combining these boards with other systems nearby.
Assumptions
- The breakout has a prototyping section or has been augmented with a FET/connector
