Eric (Dec 4,10:41 PM):
Good Morning/Afternoon,
I hope you have been doing well. My name is Eric Zhao and I am the Battery Box Co-lead of the University of Waterloo’s Midnight Sun Solar Car Team.
To provide some background about us, we have been designing and building solar cars for over 30 years, and are one of the largest student teams on Waterloo campus. You can learn more about our experience at our website, http://uwmidsun.com .
We are currently beginning the design of our newest vehicle, MSXV, and would love to learn more about Nomura Co's technology! We would like to know if Nomura Co would be interested in working together and providing us with any lithium polymer battery datasheets, samples, or purchasing options. We would also be open to discussing custom battery solutions for our solar car if you have any interest in that!
Please let me know if you have any questions, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Eric Zhao | Battery Box Co-lead

Thanks contacting
MOV car main energy source is not solar panel.
It is energy from net.
But calculation is fixed battery energy density.
In case Panasonic, or Samsung 18650 has 230-250Wh/kg.
In case our Nomura race battery has 300Wh/kg (at 0.25C charge and discharge) .
Thus you can get 20% more energy by changing battery even same weight.
This makes big benefit.
Pricing is about USD50,000/80kg battery.
We have user team in US who use long years.
If you like to hear user voice, I can ask to them.
Eric (Dec 7, 2:50 PM):
Hello, thanks for responding. I was wondering if there are any other / smaller options for batteries? Our race requires a weight limit of 20kg for the battery. Would it be possible for your to provide me with any datasheets relevant to the batteries?
Thanks!
Nomura (Dec 7, 12:29 AM):
20kg is totally fine.
Even 10kg
Just I thought you are participator for MOV car.
And if MOV, batt carry weight is about 50-100kg if WSC.
I do not know in ASC
Anyway, 20kg is fine
if 20kg
Will be about USD12500 so on.
Eric (Dec 8, 1:28 AM):
Cool! When talking about battery, you mean just the battery cells alone, not a whole battery pack right? I'm interested in potentially purchasing some samples for testing, would you happen to know what the minimum quantity of battery cells you are offering to sell/ship to Waterloo, Canada?
I would also be interested in hearing from the US team that you've been working with. Would it be possible for you to ask them if they're interested in exchanging messages? Thanks!
Nomura (Dec 8, 9:25 AM):
We usually sell parallel connected cell with PCB.
Then it is quite easy at user when connect to in series.
According our experience,
Spot welding 18650is not easy.
But our battery parallel unit is very easy as soldering only.
