This is the exact model we are using. An xbee is just a wireless transmitter which takes its input from a UART interface.
Needs 2.1dB dipole antennas to get a maximum of 200 Kbps at 5km range.
Needs a maximum of 229 mA @ 3.6V (for transmitting, less for receiving)
