The Mechanical Team is a very large sub-team comprised of sections including Battery Structures & Cell, Dynamics Integration (Brakes, Steering Suspension), Chassis & Internal Structures, and Exteriors & Composites. To give a general summary of each of the sections:
Dynamics Integration Team is in charge of all things that move and is broken down into 3 separate teams: suspension, steering and brakes. We work with the design, testing, and assembly of these systems with the rest of the car.
Exteriors & Composites is in charge of the designing the exterior of the car, manufacturing all carbon fiber composites on the car, vehicle sealing and exteriors and chassis integration.
Chassis & Internal Structures provides the strength needed for supporting the different vehicular components as well as the payload and helps to keep the car rigid and stiff to maximize safety and driving performance.
Battery Structures & Cell is in charge of giving the car power to move. We assemble hundreds of lithium-ion battery cells into a battery pack that we design ourselves to provide the necessary voltage and current for our motors.

Throughout that time, I took an interest into every aspect of the mech team, completing some design tasks and helping out during the manufacturing phase. Hi all, I’m Shem and I’m in 2nd year Mech, I’ve been in MidSun for 2 years. I won’t physically be in Loo this term, but will be working with Nicole and the really awesome people we have in our Battery Team in testing/improving our MS15 Battery System and beginning work on the MS16 Battery System.

Hi, I’m Anupam, and I just started 2A Tron. Over the summer, I worked as the mechanical co-op for the team, where I was heavily involved in completing MSXV. While my focus during the co-op term was on Dynamics, this term I’ll be working alongside Ben and Ethan on Chassis and Internal Structures.
