TO-DO: finalize lights wiring (gauges + lengths)

22 AWG for all LV systems!!!!

  • could also use 18 if 22 is too sus…

  • crimps for 22 AWG available!

to-do: make calculator for wire length, current in - power loss out

make table for harnessing wire lengths

3 solar relays

to begin wiring things beginning of next term

DEADLINE: beginning of next term

Short term items:

  • clean up mockup spreadsheet

  • do battery box enclosures

  • solar harnessing ideas

PD Outputs

11/25/2023

All possible board mounting locations

  • entire roof panel available

  • chassis nose

  • 59cm L x 47 cm W

  • AVOID THE MIDDLE (steering column)

  • aero nose

  • also avoid middle! (rib)

  • Lights

    • 6 turn signal lights (yellow)

    • 3 in parallel (for either side)

    • 3 brake lights (red)

    • all in parallel

    • 2 headlights(white)

    • parallel

    • 1 bps fault ubducator (white)

    LOCKED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CENTRAL LOCATION

  • table for mockup!

11/21/2023

  • AFE voltage taps

    • need fuse so it doesn’t go > 10 mA

    • instead use super thin gauge wire

      • could be harnessing task…

  • PD size

    • 10 x 13 (14?) cm

      • confirmed its 10 x 14 cm

  • use 22 gauge wire where possible

  • for HV DCDC-in, maybe 14?

  • for HV solar, around 10-12 awg (the max you can to reduce resistance)

  • for HV motor & pack, use ~4 gauge wire in bay

  • TO-DO: figure out daisy chain controller board

    • ideally one terminating resistor pair in enclosure

      • only two CAN wires coming out instead of 4 otherwise

Wire Gauge Speccing

  • Working session this Saturday!

Tasks:

  • Aden - PD

  • Owen - Battery Enclosure

  • Yanshen + Jason - Driver Controls

CRITICAL:

  • mechanical locations of boards!!!

  • roughly every possible place to put boards

IN-PERSON WORKING SESSION Saturday, Nov. 25th - 1:00 PM

Proposed Path (PD-CC-Steering):

  • can’t be over battery box because they remove from the top

  • can’t be on side flange since it’s difficult to get to - Michael

  • figure out area size needed, then reach out to Michael Hanley to figure out proper area for PD

8/27/2023

  • created + cleaned up MSXV Electrical Mockup Connections google sheet

  • Hardware Board Enclosures review

    • harnessing sheaths

      • combine common wires (i.e. GND) and splice them OR keep each wire separate but in common “casings”

    • FRONT ENCLOSURE TO REAR/BATTERY/CANOPY

      • run from sides following chassis tubes

    • REAR/BATTERY TO CANOPY

      • wiring needs to not restrict opening of canopy

        • Proposed path: Rear → Front → Rear (on side of canopy) → canopy

      • REAR/BATTERY TO TAIL

        • most direct path

      • UPDATE 28/08/2023: battery box ports will likely be on top of the front of our enclosure and maybe one or so on the lid for the AFEs

  • TO-DO:

    • work on PD/BMS portion of MSXV Elec Connections Google Sheet

      • remember to spec out wire gauges + length estimations!

7/26/2023

  • looking into harnessing softwares

    • Siemens

    • Solidworks Electrical

    • Solidworks Mechanical (extruded-circle for wire)

    • possibly no wiring CAD

  • mock-up diagram finalization

  • MSXIV Excel Wiring Tracker

  • Wiring speccing

    • look into MSXIV Electrical VDR

  • Task Delegation

    • break down by HV, LV; between enclosures

    • new-member friendly: speccing components (connectors, wires)

      • digikey skills, decision matrices, etc.
