General Plastics FR-7100 Series

  • Comes in various densities of 4 to 40lbs. per cubic ft.

  • Max use temperatures of up to 104°C

  • ask min about how to interpret compressive strength (Technical Data Sheet)

  • General Plastics Indicates that the foam is stress-free, easy to machine, and uniform in density throughout the block

The following is an example of how the foam was used for a CNC-machined topographical map

LAST-A-FOAM® FR-4700 TOOLING FOAM BOARD

  • Foam comes in densities of 18, 30, and 40 lbs. per cubic ft.

  • Max use temperature of 204 °C

  • Technical Data Sheet (for compressive strength interpretation)

  • General plastics indicates this material is highly machinable, consistently uniform and dimensionally stable.

  • In a video on the website, they showed how the foam was used for a prepreg layup

The following is a picture of a mold machined from the foam

EB700 High-Temperature Epoxy Tooling Board

  • Comes in a density of 700kg/m3

  • Maximum Service temperature of up to 130oC

  • Comes in sheet sizes of 250 x 250 mm to 1500 x 500mm and thicknesses of 50mm and 100mm

  • In a question asked on the product page, somebody asked if this board can be used “As A Mould to Manufacture Pre-Preg Parts” which the answer was yet but, the CTE must be taken into account since it will limit the curing temperature.

The following is a picture of the material being machined into a mold

Precision Board High-Density Urethane (PBLT)

  • Comes in Densities ranging from 4 to 75 lbs. per cubic ft. (Custom sizes and densities available by request)

  • Sheet sizes range from 20” x 60” to 5' x 10'

  • Thickness from 1/2” to 24”

  • Maximum service temperature of 200oF (around 93.3oC) and flame resistant

  • Prepreg Layup is one of the indicated applications

  • No labels
