Midnight Sun’s Battery Box Team is in charge of giving the car power to move. Our battery pack is essential for two functions:
Store energy collected from solar cells
Provide supplemental power for our vehicle, MSXIV, on days with minimal sunlight
We assemble hundreds of lithium-ion battery cells into a battery pack that provides the necessary voltage and current for our motors to power MSXIV!
Member Responsibilities:
You will gain exposure to:
Automotive engineering, design and manufacturing
Manufacturing, hands-on and hands-off (CNC) machining processes in a machine-shop environment
Composites manufacturing and validation testing of materials
Design and analysis of automotive components (e.g. steering and suspension linkages, body panels, electrical enclosures) (remote)
Technical drawings, how to properly tolerance them, and how to analyze critical tolerance stackups (remote)
Research and Design for testing and manufacturing (remote)
Exposure to the supplier-interfacing process
Attend weekly team check-ins and general meetings over the web
