Overall, we’re progressing a little slower than expected, but nothing (except limited time) is blocking us.
Battery Modules
Manufacturing
All the pieces are in the process of being manufactured, if they have not already been.
Parts still to receive:
Digikey - connectors & crimps (EOW maybe)
Mouser - connectors & crimps (EOW maybe)
Newark - potting compound (est. End of Oct.)
IEWC - wires for battery module assembly (Working on it…)
Cell holders still to be received from Linamar (est. End of Oct.)
Work to do:
Finish design of Busbar Bending die (2hrs) and bend the 90 degree angle in the top busbars (1hr)
Sort out bad cells from Renzo’s processing on the cell results (4hrs)
Isolation between the 2 series groups in a module to be cut out (1hr)
Assembly
Still need to make an assembly guide… but handing out tasks 1 at a time and explaining in-person can also be done.
Lots of soldering and wire crimping still to be completed.
3D Print post-processing is going well.
Battery Pack
Design of the final pieces is coming along well, lots of integration with Interiors (Renzo specifically) that needs to get done and is sometimes hard to schedule. Connector locations still need to be fully finalized.
New members are pushing a lot of the design for these parts, so that’s great!
Large items to be completed are the Fuse Blocks, module supports, and busbars.
We were aiming for manufacturing completed for this term, but its looking like we will get design done and be doing manufacturing/assembly next term. We can push some parts out earlier and lock in the design - that would probably be a good idea.
