AUX Switch

  • AUX switch should be located on the Dash (easiest place to mount and if it’s near the parking brake switch, could be accidentally hit)

  • Possibly located below infotainment display

Fan Control

  • Fans would most likely be located on either side of the infotainment display

  • Fan switch will most likely live close to the fans

  • Hardware wants to be able to control the 2 fans independently

  • Need to check if there’s space

Button to control DRLs

  • On centre console, hardware has routed a button to turn on the DRLs

  • Interiors envisioned it being done with the high-beams switch, also more relatable for the driver

  • Final decision: no button

Drive States

  • Manual parking brake - no park state, only neutral

  • No button routed for ‘park’ on the centre console

  • Coasting would be done in ‘drive’ (neutral should only be done when we’re in a standstill)

  • Use DRL switch to check parking brake?

    • Don’t want to motors running when car is parked

  • Using MSXII LED buttons

USB Headers

  • Hardware is unsure how feasible this is but they’d like the Pi USB headers to be broken out so that they are accessible (e.g. charge phone) on the Dash

    • OTS adapters for charging?

  • Programming header for the PI (USBs for power + signal) - have a USB extension available to gather logs from Pis directly / interface with it

  • 2 USB ports - one for power, one for charge

  • 9-pin connector broken out to the front would be useful for getting CAN messages/logs (idea: can be facing the right from the infotainment display, driver shouldn’t be looking at them…)

Programming Header

  • Programming header brought out to main panel

  • Keep a ribbon cable connector accessible in case the center console needs to be reprogrammed

Right Camera Display

  • Located between the rearview camera + infotainment
    (diagram on Confluence is outdated)

Infotainment Display

  • Way to turn off infotainment display?

    • Might be able to do so through CAN or power distribution

  • But a switch would be preferable? → button on infotainment to turn it off and then to turn it back on, you have to restart the car

  • Electrically speaking, it’s not hard to put a switch in the power rail but not preferred

  • Low beam switches on center console

    • switch between race and normal mode

    • normal mode = display on (normal operation)

  • Display is currently turned off through power distribution

  • Maybe have a hidden switch nested in a debug panel (debug panel consists of the USB headers, switches, etc.)

  • All buttons will have LEDs

  • Parking brake latch implementation

  • Interiors needs to figure out logic for turn signals and how that relates to camera displays

  • Don’t want all cameras on at once at all times

  • Need someone to test cameras - firmware?

  • No labels
