Solar Array testing will do exactly what it sounds like - test the performance of our solar cells. We are testing the cells' energy/power intake under a variety of conditions that will allow us to forecast the energy inputs during the race. Doing so, we can monitor future car performance and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Determine the types of data needed to make decisions about which loops to take or not to take

  • Build a model that determines which loop to take prior to the race starting

  • Build a model that determines which loop to take based on real-time race conditions as well as how to take the loop (speed, other factors).

...

Goals

  • Collaborate with firmware/hardware to schedule and perform testing on the solar cells for Spring 2023.

  • Take out solar array out on sunny/cloudy days (mimicking race conditions) and measure the energy input.

  • Build a model that forecasts and predicts energy input based on collected data for in-race measurement.

Additional Notes

  • Use any power pack from Canadian Tire (we don’t care where the power goes, it just needs to go somewhere).
