Objective

Optimize car performance (velocity, conservation of energy, and behaviour) based on a series of constraints and predictive modelling from car and external components.

Key outcomes

  • Optimize car performance based on car telemetry data and route external conditions.

  • Leverage predictive modelling by forecasting future advancement or conservation opportunities depending on future conditions.

  • Place the Midnight Sun Team in a position of certainty over future car performance during the duration of the race.

Solar Array Testing

Test the solar cell efficiency of the solar cells to predict future energy extraction under different irradiance and weather conditions. Doing so, we will have a final measure of expected energy from the solar cells themselves.

Solar Model

Leverage APIs to predict the amount of solar irradiance along the race route and how much energy this will contribute to the battery.

  • Leverage APIs to predict the upcoming weather and temperature of the race route, and how this will affect our race decisions.
