March Open House

• You are invited to participate in this year’s March Open House (MOH), which will be taking place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10am – 4pm on main campus. This is an event for prospective undergraduate students (i.e., grade 12 and younger) to learn more about the University of Waterloo, and an opportunity for you to share what your team does with them! Each confirmed team will receive a table in the student design centre that they can use to show off any materials that they would like while interacting with guests. This event tends to receive a smaller attendance compared to Fall Open House (if you were at that event), so I recommend 2-3 volunteers per booth so as not to be over-staffed! All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a complimentary lunch.

Sub-team Updates

Mechanical

Matt:

• making room in the bay to assemble FSU & steering while aero is still in the bay

• RSU and brake mounts have been sent to E3 for machining, metal & fasteners have been ordered

• Bad news steering development is on pause due to the latest VDR comments

• Next week goal: Set up time with Rob to weld control arms & steering column mounting plate, have the coops machine custom parts for the brake pedal, have FSU on car by weekend

• Aero wise: im actually hold up jasmine rn cause ive been needing to update the wheel cover stencil, i finally figured out the clearance needed for steering so I am going to get that sent for CNC monday, i talk with the machinist and try to have it made by end of week so she can cut holes in aero without delaying body work

Jasmine:

• roof assembly is basically done, trim and layups happening next week

• The windshield fits, luckily we do not have the interference

  • need canopy tilting mechanism to seal it into place (interiors thing)

  • I talked to E3, Mak said he’s good for roof and tub for end of month

  • I also talked to Graeme for sanding room availability, he said it okay, need to check to see concrete leaves after the march 22nd weekend

Owen:

Pack Build:

• there were still 3 modules to charge before HV supply broke

• Priority is to build a pack on Monday (can be built without charging all modules to same voltage because connected in series)

• Kostubh coming in Sat March 16 to spotweld remaining modules

Enclosure:

• Shem and Nicole aim to build up enclosure with all 3D printed parts on Saturday March 16

Electrical

Adel:

• Mockup is progressing but not too much of an update this past week

• got motor running with MCI and need to add pedal to that system

• BMS needed some changes which Aryan made and we’ll be adding it to a mockup probably with CC and PD soon.

Forest:

• new board sendout came back (PD, AFE, Carrier)

  • AFE and Carrier assembled

  • PD still needs to be assembled

Strategy

Rodrigo:

• FSGP planning almost complete, data in-house, flushing out strategy to present to the group, crossing fingers for next week

• ASC pre-race is almost there, optimization still work in progress

• ASC during-race infra in-place, needs work and adaptation to new strategies

Business

Fatima:

• Currently working through the sponsors for the logos (bronze sponsors getting logo as well now)

• EngSoc proposal was submitted on Sunday

• approved for the WEEF funding (I believe it was for $5000 for the EMS Services)

• finishing up with the Sandra Fleming proposal (should be finished by this weekend)

• race route was released also planning on continuing to get ahead with that
