1. IRL experience – talk about what the race was like

  • What were you specifically using the dashboard for during the race?

  • How were roles delegated in regards to analyzing the data?

    • Was it one person looking at all of the datasets?

  • [set-up question to find relevant task/scenario to dig into] ie “Give me an example…” “What usually prompted you to look at the dash? Describe that scenario”

    • When looking at the dash, what are you typically looking for?

    • e.g. looking at specific trend or data points

    • e.g. constantly scanning through looking for something right/wrong

  • Which information did you look at the most often?

  • How much data were you usually observing at a time?

    • If so, at what point is too much data overwhelming

  • Did you find that the information was easy to follow and that you were able to access information easily?

  • Was there any information that you would have liked to have had?

  • Was there any information which you recall as being unnecessary?

  • Could you walk me through your typical use case of the dashboard and your procedures? – This is kind of vague

    • Try “What usually prompted you to look at the dash? When did you look at the dash? Describe those scenarios”

  • When you couldn’t find a piece of information, how would look for it?

    • Could you walk me through the search process?

  • Do you recall a time when you had to search for a new dataset in the dash?

    • Was it difficult to find?

    • Was it difficult to interpret?
