Image result for tesla chassisImage Modified

Lightweight chassis (does not conform completely to aerobody). Composed of just a chassis floor with a roll cage (just thick enough to mount suspensions and steering). This would also keep our center of gravity very low, which is good for dynamics.

The aerobody should be structural enough to support itself. If not thin extension members can be implemented from the chassis to help support the aerobody.

No reason for the chassis to be as large as the aerobody.

Imagine the Tesla bottom chassis but with a roll cage.

  • 4 hoops
  • Straight beam at the base (I beam) for support
  • Additional cross beams added to base for mounting points
  • Cross behind driver seating area
  • Triangular beams along sides, except at door area

-All members triangulated

-7 hoops, one main, front roll hoop rear roll hoop, front wheel and rear wheel hoop, front bulkhead and rear bulkhead

-main hoop is one curved tube, with no bends (recommended by Student Formula Design Teams document)

-Three horizontal beams on the front and back to mount the control arms to

-door would be placed between main hoop and front roll hoop
