Schematic parameters exist at every level of the project, generally the most common parameters we will be dealing with are at the component and document levels (For more info - http://techdocs.altium.com/display/ADRR/Sch_Obj-Parameter((Parameter))_AD)

Document Parameters

These parameters are generally used to define the title, sheet number, project revision, etc in a title block at the corner of every schematic document. To simplify the process, we have provided a template including the title block in the Github Hardware repo.

To set this template as the default for all schematic sheets:

  • Go to DXP>Preferences>System>New Document Defaults
  • Under PCB Project>Schematic, choose the Letter sized SchDot file from the Github Hardware repo (..\Hardware\MSXII_Project_Template\Midsun_Schematic_Template_Letter.SchDot)
  • To automatically set sheet numbering, go to Tools>Number Schematic Sheets

Component Parameters

Component parameters include the supplier and manufacturer part numbers for the component, datasheet links, min/max values, etc. Although these parameters can be added after the component has been placed on a schematic, we generally add component parameters while they are being created in the Schematic Library. Check out Libraries and Component Creation (Schematic Component Creation) to learn how component parameters can be added in bulk (For more on component parameters - Component Parameters).
