Version 1 Current »

Wanted to add this here to keep a record of what be have talked about for solar changes before everything on slack disappears.

  • Why have we chosen the RC filter values of 100Ohms and 0.1uF? I see them everywhere but have never seen any frequency calculations for what we are actually trying to cut out.

  • Is the 100V capacitor on the solar relay driver necessary, or was that just the one available in the library?

  • Could you put DO NOT POPULATE markings on the HV current sense  bypass resistors (R1/R13) - unless I am mistaken about their purpose

  • Why use a different, lower resolution ADC for the current sense? I think it would make much more sense to use another of the MCP3427 that is used for voltage sense. Then firmware doesn't have to deal with extra libraries either.

  • Could you use the barrier blocks for power output instead of the wurth studs?

  • Can we switch the 12V power input to the micro fit connectors as discussed on the call earlier?

  • Do you think it would be a good idea to put a 0.1uF on the relay driver circuit (in addition to the 2.2 and 4.7uF? Just to cut out some of the higher frequency noise?

  • Make sure there any many mounting holes around the board, especially around the heavy components (relay) and any places we will be plugging in and unplugging connectors (barrier blocks, connectors, etc.

  • Could you change the controller board mount to the SMD terminals as discussed earlier (like a few months earlier - we were planning on switching all our boards to this).

  • I don't see any resistors for the other side of the thermistor voltage divider? Am I just missing them?

  • This is picky, but the last 2 pages of the schematic do not have any text labels to describe them - such as "SPI Isolators" on page 6.

  • Note for the Nomura SPI connections, we will not be using the GND pin on the microfit connectors, as we don't want GND loops, and the GND is already on the barrier blocks.

  • The Nomura Ideal Diodes had much fewer and smaller capacitors - are they all necessary? And what about the FETs - it looks like there will always a direct path from battery to panel through the body diode of the FET (by the way, thanks for adding those!). I'll go over this a little more later

  • Could you double check the thermistor connections and the filters on these? I think we want 1x3v3 and 1x thermistor sense for each thermistor, unless they will be broken out somewhere else.

  • Are the relay and the fuse in the low side or high side of the circuit? - should always be on the high side.
