Goals
- Distribute power to all components with maximum efficiency
- Reliable operation
Background and strategic fit
A power distribution board is necessary to supply power to the various subsystems in the vehicle. This board performs distribution, startup, shutdown and emergency shutdown as required in regulations. In addition to supporting powering the boards, it also powers components directly, such as the horn, camera and others.
Assumptions
- Power to the front of the car will be through the main harness

Questions
Below is a list of questions to be addressed as a result of this requirements document:
Question | Outcome |
---|---|
Do we want high side or low side switching? | We will do high side switching using load switches. |
Will each board be ground individually? Or a star ground? | Currently, grounds return back to power distribution. However, an alternate may be to use the chassis as ground. |
How much monitoring is required for the 12V aux battery? | Only monitoring voltage for ASC 2018. |
Not Doing
- Charging the aux battery will no longer be handled by chaos
