The battery modules were designed to slide in vertically.
There is a bit of overlap with the side walls of the battery enclosure. Noting this down that it will be a tight fit to install them (if even at all possible). We have ~8.5mm of overlap along the side edges:
They are constrained at the side to the middle of the box with the cable guides, so we cannot slide them in sideways unless we modify those pieces.
The 3D printed latch covers will also be in the way of the module installation.
If we can’t put our modules into the box, then we’ve got a bit problem…
We need to come up with some solutions to this:
Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 |
---|---|---|
Cut away the offending portion of the catamaran cover | Move battery modules 8.5mm towards the center of the pack | Reduce height of the balance wire guides (move the extra height to to top piece but keep the bolt location the same). This would allow the modules to be installed at a bit of an angle. |
Cam Latches would have to be re-positioned as well | This would require repositioning of a bunch of other components: Horizontal locating pieces, vertical holding pieces, etc. | I’m not sure if this would completely solve for being able to install the modules, but it would help. |
