Prelim Driver Display Critique
The following was a preliminary critique of the first iterations of the design with Arshan and Adrian
Where the frick am I gonna see if I presssed the pedal brakes?
has to be a light outside of the driver display screen (driver display isn't on )
buttons must be turned off when they're not available for pressing: e.g. can't put car in Drive when it's off/we turned on the car on the aux battery mode.
Should we show a message to the user, if they press an unavailable button? (feedbackazzz?)
Do we have brightness control on any of the screens?
how do we measure ambient brightness?
also, need to adjust brightness without any indicators on the screen.
need to be configurable
Drive is usually green
Neutral usually white
Reverse red
Parking: What's the difference between Parking and Neutral
Do we have any electronically applied/implicit brakes? otherwise we cannot have parking mode. (we can only have neutral, and user would have to apply handbrakes)
Battery Voltage: not important
Battery State of Charge: more relevant
Speed: ALWAYS ON THE SCREEN NO MATTER WHAT STATE WE'RE IN
Arrows: I thought they were for changing the view:
don't show them unless they're being used
Nice to have:
narrowed down version of maps:
What I don't like: speed being in the left, it's not just as important as range
time at the corner?
speed in the middle?
power usage?
do we have navigation buttons on the steering wheel or nah?
Inspo:
tesla model s
speed most important
