T/I joints
The T/I joint is the joint that will be connecting the seat pan to the seat supports as well as chassis. It will serve as the connecting joint to the overall structural component of the car and need to ensure that it will sustain a suitable amount of force to support the passenger. Thus, several tests will be created to reinforce the joint and make the needed changes in order to strengthen the joint in focus. The joint is manufactured using a divinycell foam core that will either be ½ to ¾ inch thick.
The main testing equipment required for this experiment will be using the Universal Testing Machine that will either apply a tensile, or compressive force to test the joint until failure. This will determine if the joint that is to be manufactured will suffice for finalized design of the car.
