Dynamics Mandate W2021
Dynamics is a catch-all term for everything that moves in the car. We’re responsible for the braking, steering, and suspension systems of the vehicle. These complex, purely mechanical systems are essential to the regular functioning of the vehicle as well as being safety critical.
Member Responsibilities
This term, the vast majority of our work is concentrated onsite. All our parts have been designed, and most have been machined and prepped for assembly. This means that our work is dependent on having access to the bay.
For onsite members, you’ll gain exposure to:
Steering, Braking, and Suspension systems
No better way to learn about these systems than to put them together yourself!
Shock absorber calibration
Some Machining
Some of our off-the-shelf and custom components still need a bit of prep work before they can be assembled into the car
Troubleshooting
Required Skills
You are:
A student passionate about mechanical systems
Able to work effectively with others on commons tasks
A quick problem solver
We don't expect members to have anything other than the above skills, however, the following are nice to have:
Exposure to SolidWorks
Exposure to technical drawings (creating and reading)
Knowledge of solid mechanics (stress analysis, failure methods)
Communication
(I have longer hair rn)
Leif (Layfe) Blake - Dynamics Technical Lead
When
I have varying response times on slack but theoretically am available most normal waking hours. I should be onsite often when it’s open for business
Estimated time commitment for onboarding
Onboarding will be delayed until we have a return date to the bay.
