Determining Motor Current Limits

What max phase currents should we set for the tritium controller to protect both it, the motors, and the cables and connectors?

We need to be able to start on a hill.

How does current affect the inductance of the motor windings? - Make sure you understand what Saturation Current is, why it happens, and why it is important.

A reply from Nomura when asked about the motor phase current limits that they use and if they have any recommendations on the coil saturation current:

Given that we want the maximum torque available when starting up, I would recommend leaving the motor phase current limits (both sinusoidal and sixstep) at the defaults of 100A, pending saturation current testing of the motor coils.
